A GHOSTLY BLUE

  • Time Away

Sometimes I need to prove I can do things on my own. Today I visited my book at Burlington’s Phoenix Books, treated myself to lunch on Church Street, and then ice cream with a view. Now that I’m recharged, it’s back to writing.

  • Scared

I need to write a scary scene for my MG mystery, but I don’t like scaring myself! I’d best leave it for the light of day, versus the dusk that’s falling here in Vermont.

  • A Clue Too soon

I had 1998 pieces done on my 2K puzzle, but the last 2 wouldn’t fit. Then I realized I’d put a piece in wrong–too soon. And I’d done the same thing in my book. I’d added a clue too early, that was best saved for later. I’m not done fixing it but I’m hoping the…

  • Setting

Thanks to Louella Bryant for a free and informative writer’s workshop yesterday. We talked about place and how to firmly anchor your reader into not just the setting, but also how the character feels about the setting…a nuance I hadn’t really paid attention to before. • Creemie # 3

Not bad, but a little soft. It was also a twist of black raspberry and maple, but it looked like it was all mixed together. The upside was it wasn’t too big and good or bad, it’s closer to home.

Had to get another creemie since the last one was disappointing. Burlington Bay still has the best ones in my book.

  • Stone Harvest

The second round of edits are the worst to me. Probably because I think I fixed the problems with all the previous edits. But, alas, I did not. I figure it’s like clearing a field here in Vermont. First pass you get out all the stones–you think. When you look back, there’s a whole new…
